difficult to spot individuals
beneath their pads and helmets.
Despite kicking off, WIVIU
scored the first touchdown in
the fn'st few minutes of play,
followed by two more in quick
succession. By the half, the
score was 28 to 0, with Lone
Tree managing only a single
first down on runs by tailback
Jackie Moore of Lone Tree and
fullback Jeremy Murphy of
Highland.
The slippery ball and muddy
field appeared to play a role in
the Raider's difficulties. In
addition, WMU seemed to have
little trouble breaking through
the front line to repeatedly sack
the quarterback, or even the
center, before the ball could
reach the runners' hands.
The Raiders bounced back in
the second half. On one early
play, the ball was fumbled by
quarterback Zach Rozmus of
Highland who managed to
recover it despite heavy pres-
sure from WMU.
He completed the play under
intense pressure, passing the
ball to the tailback, who ran it
seventy yards for the touch-
down. The Raiders held WMU
to one more touchdown for the
entire second half of the game.
The final score was 36 to 6.
Head Coach Jim Mochal did
an excellent job keeping spirits
up and getting the boys to treat
the second half as if it were a
completely different

same team earlier
evening. :|

Although the 8th
Raiders suffered a big
their first game, they
huge amount of promise
both their offense and
with individual players
some impressive blocks
tackles.
A little more practice,
lot more experience,
turn them into a
team, as they already
strate a lot of strength
