The Lisbon Lions, 30-7 so far
this season, are on the south side
of the District 8 playoff tourna-
ment bracket and will play New
London on July 10 at the same
time that Lone Tree squares
off against Danville (after Lone

lines). Lone Tree plays for a
chance to face the winner of a
Notre Dame vs West Burlington
match, and the Lisbon Lions will
see either IMS or Highland if
they make it to their semi-final
round. A potential Lone Tree vs
Lisbon matchup could loom if
both teams make it to their final
on July !4 to be played at Wash-
ington.
Lone Tree 13, Columbus 0
The Lone Tree bets clobbered
the visiting Wildcats of Colum-
bus Junction, putting up 13 runs
in just four innings of work.
Harry Miller led his team of-
fensively getting a pair of home
runs and five RBI in the win.
Miller and Wapello's Gage Car-
penter are tied in the SEISC
North with five home runs a
piece. Miller has 30 RBI and a
.369 batting average for the Lions
this season.
The Lions also got multiple-hit
games from Jordan Quigley and
Logan Forbes. Quigley is batting
.352 for the Lions and Forbes is
second on the team with 21 RBI
and a .371 batting average.
With the win the L-T boys
clinch the #1 spot in the South-
east Iowa Super Conference. IMS
and Pekin finished tied with sec-
ond at 11.5 and Lone Tree's alone
atop the conference with a 13-3
record.
"This is all for the boys," said
Lone Tree head baseball coach
Ryan Barnes after the win vs.
Columbus Junction. ,'They did
this with hard work and contin-
ually got better. They've worked
hard for it the entire year, so this
is a tribute to what they've done
all year."
The Lone Tree boys squad has
just two seniors this season and
Coach Barnes said his juniors

passing on the high expectations
the coaches have for the players.
"We have high expectation for
the boys and that is passed down
from our seniors and juniors,"
said Barnes. "We only have two
seniors on the team this year

ers and they understand what is
expected of them and relay that
to the younger kids before we
even get to them."

"No team likes losing," said
Coach Barnes. "Our kids have

Despite the loss to end the sea-

Barnes said he's looking for-

the chance to move through the
post.season tournament bracket.
"It's the start of what you play
your regular season for," said
Barnes. "We'll get a solid pitch-
