Lady Lions back
on the diamond,
ready for a good
softball season
by Tim Greff
The Lone Tree Reporter
There's a strong group of
girls back on the softball dia-
mond for the Lady Lions this
season and they're led by se-
niors Jenny Jones and Elyssa
Mills.
"Jenny Jones is back start-
ing the year out real well,
• and improved on her catch-
ing skills over the winter
and doing a good job for us," "|
said Coach Tom Dickey. "Ely-
ssa Mills [has] really started
well in the OF for us and has
a strong arm. She's already __

defense will win you a lot of
games in softball.
Junior pitchers Maggie
Schmidt and Avery Edwards
highlight the returning junior
class.
"Maggie Schmidt and Avery
Edwards are back and they've
started the year out real well,"
said Coach Dickey who point-
ed out that their K-Walk ratio
is 3-1 and their ERAs are both
under 2.
"They're doing a good job . t
not putting people on base and
doing a slow steady job for
us," said Dickey. "What' we're
struggling with is not support-
ing our pitching. We either fall
out on defense, or not produce
the runs that we need."
"Maggie has improved grad'-
ually every year and has some
goals set for herself. She and
Avery have both put in endless
hours working so they deserve
the success." said Dickey. "I
