Agnes later married Ivo Berg on April 27, 1946 at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Clear Creek, Iowa. Agnes was employed in food services at the University of Iowa, she was also a wife and homemaker. Agnes enjoyed playing cards, fishing, mushroom hunting and was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the WWE She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her children and grandchil- dren. Agnes will be deeply missed by her husband Ivo, four daughters, Dyann Rath of Tif- fm, IA and her husband Ron W. of Riverside, Linda Issacs and her husband Dr. Gerald Issacs of Waukesha, WI., Rita Martin and her special friend Alan Stolba of Solon, IA., and Cindy Schnoebelen and her husband Don of Pella, IA., thirteen grandchildren and twenty- three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wright, and Dorothy Lown both of Sigour- ney; and several nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her first hus- band Cletus, one sister, Cather- ine Shifflett and one son-in-law Arnold "Butch" Doerres. Agnes Ellen Berg, 79 of Riverside, died Saturday, May 17, 2005 at the Lone Tree Care Center following a brief illness. Mass of the Resurrection for Agnes was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Rev. Rich Adams of St. Mary's Catholic Church offi- ciated the services. Casket bearers were the Grandchil- dren. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Care Center and the Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in memory of Agnes. Agnes Ellen Stephenson was born on April 1, 1926 in Sigour- ney, Iowa, the daughter of Addison and Helen (Vittitoe) Stephenson: Agnes married Cletus John Berg on December 4, 1944 at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Clear Creek, Iowa. They gave birth to daughter Retired Firemen's Auxiliary The retired firemen's auxil- iarY met at the home of Rose- mary Lewis, Tuesday evening, May 10. Pinochle was played with prizes going to Betty Sch- noebelen, Marge Wieland, LaVon Wisor and Berneda Sch- noebelen. Virginia Schlapkohl was a guest. Delicious refresh- ments were served. The next hostess will be Betty Schnoe- belen, June 14. John Smetak and friend, Eva De La Cruz pose together after graduation. John Smetak, son of Jacqueline Smetak, 112 West Jayne, graduated Magna Cum Laude, Friday, May 13 from the University of Houston, Houston, Texas. John majored in Theater, with an emphasis in light- ing design. He is currently employed by the University and is in charge of stage and theater lighting and has done work for most of the theaters in Houston. His most recent was for "On the Razzle" by Tom Stop- pard, performed at the Main Street Theater, Rice Village.
