disrespected or any property disrespected. If I

Mayor Poch was also pleased with the
episode shown.
"They represented us in a good light," Mayor
Poch said. "They were the ones who were
made to look like fools. In the beginning,
(actor) Desi Lydic looked like a ditz. I thought,
this is a real Hollywood star. (But after getting
to know her) I wouldn't say she was a ditz now.
Cast as an extra in the show, Duane McAtee
of Solon attended the premier with his wife,
Anna.
"It was pretty funny" Anna said.
"It was great," Duane said. "I am jealous
that our town didn't get (the movie filmed in
our town). The first night I went home and told
my wife, this is the worst movie. I didn't think
(the film) would make it off the cutting room
floor."
Approximately 300 gathered at the school to
watch the show on two big-screen TVs. Laughter
echoed throughout the gym.
Riverside local Christine Thompson volunteered at
the event.
"I really enjoyed it. I thought it was really funny,"
Thompson said. "I didn't think it looked like they were
taking any cheap shots at us. We don't look like a bunch
of simpletons."
One scene in the show depicted Father Rich Adam of
Anna and Duane McAtee of Solon, laugh at the Inva-
sion Iowa Premier on Tuesday. Duane was cast as an
extra in the show.
St. Mary's Church in Riverside where much of the show
was filmed. Shatner asked if he would mind if they
shattered one of the stained glass windows in the
church for the film.
"Father Rich's expression was classic," Thompson
said. "His reaction was very funny:'.'
"Invasion Iowa" debuted on Spike TV Tuesday, March

oil up the old lawn mower, but
then, we can go fishing after it's

Laugh for the week: The
young man wrote home from
his job saying "Made foreman,

later he wrote again saying,
"Made manager another feath-

weeks he wrote again saying
"Fired:send money for train

Teachers looked at their
social studies and science
units and found non-fiction
books that supplemented
those topics. In addition, a
classroom set of dictionaries
was purchased for the library.
The other half of the
money was designated for
textbooks. Since the school
was not planning to adopt
new textbooks in the near
future, additional copies of
the current books were pur-
